Today would have been Tulip's 14th birthday. Since I can no longer give her a cheeseburger, I thought I'd pull together links to all the best posts about Tulip that's I've made since her gotcha day back on April 13, 2008. Here they are in chronological order.

You'll note that as time goes on there are fewer posts here, as I just posted more pictures to Facebook, including a whole album of he "senior photos" in June 2016, or her appearance at M and I's wedding last August.
For what it's worth, we've now lost Chucha, who was healthy until one day she
wasn't, and Tulip who was sick for a year before her passing. Both suck, but apparently the mental prep for Tulip helped me recover faster. Or maybe I'm just exhausted anyway from Birdie.
Tulip O'Hare
July 25, 2007 - May 13, 2021
Tulip was universally lauded by friends, vets, dog sitters, dog camp employees and really everyone else as the sweetest dog in the entire world. Tulip thought that every other dog and human in the entire world was her friend, and loved saying hello to them on her walks. She loved going to Camp Bow Wow for the day. She was particularly friends with
Hamlet,
Chucha, Ellie and Conrad, and best frenemies with Kitten. Her only true enemies in life were people on skateboards and loud motorcycles.
In her youth, Tulip was renowned as an escape artist who could jump over six foot fences on the fly, a trait that made visits to the dog park somewhat challenging. She had an incredibly strong prey drive and happily pursued every chipmunk, rabbit, squirrel or bird that came within view, although she only managed to kill one exceptionally stupid and incompetent squirrel. She broke multiple leads trying to catch squirrels and once was found wandering the neighborhood dragging six foot of chain. Tulip also fought five cats for a respectable 4-1 lifetime record.
Tulip liked sticking her head out the car window on drives all other Ohio and on trips to Illinois, New York and Pennsylvania. The car window was often down anyway because Tulip had a remarkably lethal ability to pass gas in every situation imaginable.
Tulip loved long walks, belly rubs, naps, dog treats and human food. She particularly enjoyed cheeseburgers and chicken strips. Tulip never growled, and only barked when she was specifically trying to get you to feed her or let her out. Her favorite piece of furniture was a chaise lounge that ended up being reserved for her own personal use, but she would happily nap on the floor, on or under the bed, or on the sofa.
Tulip was adopted on April 13, 2008 and was named after
Tulip O'Hare from the comic
Preacher. This name was nearly unique among dogs; late in her life one vet stated that they had never had a dog named Tulip in their system before. Her birthday of July 25, 2007 was retroactively set by her fairy godmother KJF, who was certainly Tulip's biggest fan.
Tulip had numerous leg injuries in her life and suffered from arthritis in her old age that greatly reduced the range of her walks. After surviving the removal of a tumor from her knee in 2015, she ultimately passed away due to complications from liver cancer on May 13, 2021.
