Rolling & Tumbling & Eating

Two milestones:

Rolling & Tumbling

In the last week, Birdie has built on her previous accomplishments of rolling over ( and over) from her back to her stomach by unlocking the secret of rolling from her stomach to her back. She's still not completely confident in the front -> back roll, but she's done it several times.

Another rolling based milestone was last night. We've obviously been putting her down on her back for bedtime, and but last night M woke up in the middle of the night and saw that Birdie was sleeping peacefully on her belly, having flipped there somewhere along the way.

With the advent of her rolling adventures, Birdie now doesn't spin in circles on her back nearly as often. Apparently rolling is a lot more fun.

Eating

Birdie's six month checkup went by with flying colors last week, and so last night we started the very first solid food. Well, rice baby cereal mixed with formula isn't really very solid, and it certainly isn't solid enough to make her four teeth necessary. It was in fact served with a spoon as she sat in her high chair for the very first time, so in that sense it's solid enough.

As M has said, at this point Birdie is eating for fun more than for calories, but at least she seems to be having fun. Granted, quite a bit of the food is going on her face instead of in her mouth, but we're working on it.
