The sun was just beginning to shine and it drowned them both in its blue light. Peter smiled crookedly as he saw Nathan pull another adorable expression. It was as if he was annoyed at his dreams and Peter was dying to laugh out loud. Either that or lay a kiss on the end of that beautifully straight nose. He bit his lip, barely able to contain himself.

Peter found watching Nathan fascinating. He was so adorable and sexy. Peter wondered when he had become such a girl and went hot to the tips of his ears. Still, it was the easiest way of coping and ignoring the horrific things he had seen yesterday. He could feel the remnants of his nightmare like a dark cloud at the edge of his mind ready to swarm again if he fell asleep and the fear kept him awake for the better part of the night.

Nathan mumbled something sleepily and his attention was drawn back to him. He had the longest eyelashes on a guy he had ever seen including Jensen. They spread across his cheeks like dark crescents contrasting against his skin.

Drawing a line over them. They were sooty and the temptation to touch was right there. However that would risk waking Nathan up and bringing them both back to the real world. He prepared himself for the day ahead. He was going to try his hardest to be a good brother. He really was.

He felt Nathan stir so he closed his eyes, pretending to be asleep. He knew the minute Nathan noticed he was there because he heard the sharp intake of breath. Then slowly he felt the tension seep out of the man in front of him.

“Pete,” The voice wasn’t angry, he heard wonder in the gentleness of it. There was also something deeper. Something that he couldn’t recognise.

He didn’t have time to think about it because he felt something cold and wet sniffling up his leg. Flinching away from it automatically, he figured his cover was blown anyway and looked up to see the shock on Nathan’s face. They both looked under the cover and met a proud laughing face.

“Sadie!!!” Peter exclaimed, and then laughed as Harley pounced on Nathan. He wanted to get in on the fun, too.

Peter was just petting Harley in congrats when the phone rang. Nathan gave Peter an apologetic smile and rolled his eyes at the bad timing before he slipped from the room.

Peter’s eyes clung to Nathan despite what he promised himself before. He huffed in frustration and let himself fall back into the soft pillow the minute he disappeared.

Harley was having none of it and nudged his cheek demanding attention so Peter turned to him for understanding.

“How could he ever think I was an angel when he smile’s like that?” Sadie cocked her head to one side and looked serious for all of one second like she really could understand him. Then she licked a long slobbery line up his cheek making him laugh.

“Okay, okay. I get it. Time for food.” Peter told them and got dressed.

Jensen fought so hard to wake up. If he had stayed still he felt nothing but if he moved it sent unbearable pain shooting through his entire being.

But there was something he needed. Something like the sun but 10x more precious. He needed it like he needed oxygen and that’s when he remembered it. The smile that made his heart beat faster and he fought all that harder.

Despite the searing agony in his side he swam above his drug induced haze. His pain didn’t matter as long as he quenched the pain he had heard in his soul mates voice. Breaking through the haze was like breaking through water after nearly drowning. He snapped his head back when he broke the surface and hurt his neck. He coughed and spluttered until he could raggedly breathe again.

He felt a hand tighten around his and then shouting. There was rushing happening all around him. He felt dizzy from too much happening after being in the dark for what seemed like so long and he fainted again.

“That was Rosenbaum. He wanted to know what upset you yesterday and if you were okay.” Nathan appeared in the doorway to the kitchen “I told him about Jensen and he gave us the next couple days off.” Nathan broke off when he noticed what Peter was doing. “What’s this...?”

“What does it look like. I’m making breakfast.” Peter responded.

“For who, an army?” He shot back teasingly. Peter looked at the quantity he was making and blushed.

“I guess it is a bit much. I’m used to living with lots of people or people like Jared. It’s becomes a habit.” Peter grinned apologetically.

“No it’s not that. I’m just wondering how you managed to make all this out of the few things I actually have to eat in this house.” Nathan paused to turn Peter towards him. “Still we’ll need it.”

“I wondered if you wanted to meet your nephews today.” Nathan suggested lightly. It took a minute to process what Nathan just said. He stared at Nathan in shock. He knew Nathan was freaking out by the way he was searching his face so hopefully. Eventually he managed to stutter something.

“I have nephews?” he said breathlessly. Nathans lips twitched in a smile as he nodded.

“Two,” he answered.

“ O..kay.. yeah.” Peter straightened his hair more out of nervousness than necessity. “I would love to meet them.” He nodded. “Who’s the mom?” He asked.

“Her name’s Heidi. She was the better parent so we agreed its better if they stay will her.” He smiled to show Peter that he held no hard feelings and agreed with what he was saying. “But I get to see them every once in awhile and I thought today could be one of those occasions...”

“I’d love to...” Peter breathed breathlessly. He was so glad he stayed; he couldn’t help but pull Nathan into a hug. I love you, he thought in his mind as he closed his eyes and buried his face in that warm shoulder.

When Jensen woke up this time he had a banging headache. The pain was less in his side but he thought that was the amount of drugs they had inserted into him. He raised his hand to rub his face. It was then he realised one of his was pinned to the bed by a huge paw. He was startled to see a human at the end of it. It was Jared and he was sleeping.

Smiling softly as he stretched his free hand to pet his hair. He didn’t see the nurse at the door until she made a tiny note of delight. Maybe she was the wierdo nurse Jared had been telling him about.

“He hasn’t left your side.” She said, “That’s not usual, y’know. Even parents eventually give up and take shifts. He must really love you.”

She came and helped him to sit up and gave him some water. He hadn’t realised how thirsty he was until then but he gulped it down. “Thanks,” he spluttered once she took it away. She smiled and left.

Jared stirred having hearing him. When he met Jensen’s eyes he felt the relief in them almost break him as Jared started to cry. He kissed Jensen’s hand over and over again saying a little mantra he couldn’t quite hear but it sounded like, “Thank God! Thank God! Thank God!”

“Jared,” Jensen said. Jared let their hands drop back to the covers but clung harder. Jensen moved his hand along with Jared’s to brush Jared’s tear stained cheeks. “I’m here, Jared, I’m here.” And that was all he had to say.
