Prologue Chapter One Chapter Two Chapter Three Chapter Four Chapter Five “I’ve swapped places with Peter for a few week’s and we met through him.” Jared answered Danneel’s question of how they had met. The grin spread on her face.
“You mean that little slut is no longer in town. Things just get better and better.” When Jared began to open his mouth to tell her she has no right to call anyone a slut she carried on regardless.
“I mean, you agree with me don’t ya baby. He kissed me right in front of you without consideration for your feelings at all.” She turned to Jensen for support.
“We weren’t even going out the time. It wasn’t any of my business who you wanted to kiss.” Jensen replied, sitting up straighter.
“I know, but I’ve met someone new now anyway. His name is Adam and he is such a good lay. Makes a change, if you know what I mean.” Danneel said winking pointedly at Jared.
“I don’t believe I do.” Jared grated out. She turned, face a mock of surprise, to look at Jensen and chuckled.
“You haven’t done it with him yet?! There’s no reason to be embarrassed, Jenny. May as well show him everything now, flaws and all, right?” Jensen cringed and looked away like he’d been hit.
Jared felt an anger burn up inside him like he’d never felt before. It took everything he had in him not to hit the smug face of the girl in front of him.
“Don’t talk about him like that.” The ice dripping off Jared’s tone was calm but radiated menace that even Jensen picked up on. Jensen watched him worried. He had to let go of Jensen’s hand before he accidentally crushed it without thinking.
Danneel faltered slightly. “Chill out. We’re only playing. Aren’t we Jensen?” The silence spanned out and when a waiter came Jensen thanked god. Danneel was quiet the whole time they were getting the order taken and Jensen hoped for a second that was it be he should have known better. As soon as the waiter was out of ear shot she commented on the fact he hadn’t ordered much.
“Jeez Jenny, I’ve been trying to get you to lose weight for years. What’s brought this on.”
Jared picked up the jug of cold water from the middle of the table and chucked it over her head making her shriek.
“What the fuck do you think your doing!” she screamed. Jared stood up towering over her menacingly and she smartly shut her gob. He turned to Jensen who looked just as terrified and felt ashamed.
Jensen looked like he was going to say something when Danneel cut in. “I regret ever leaving my Jenny to be picked up by assholes like you. Jensen! Are you really going to date a monster like this? I’m soaked because he can’t control his temper.” Danneel screeched at him.
Jared glared at her and turned back to Jensen afraid he was going to agree with her but was surprised to find a small smile appearing on Jensen’s lips.
“Damn I could never date a monster? Could I Jared?” he said and Jared couldn’t help but grin back, the smile so infectious. They both burst out laughing and Danneel screeched before she stormed out the restaurant furious. And to be truthful that just made them laugh harder.

The next day Nathan found himself being dragged through central park. He didn’t even remember how he had gotten there but he knew he wanted to leave as soon as possible. Peter smiled at him happily and he reconsidered his urgency to leave. He had told Peter they could go anywhere he wanted to celebrate, after all.
It had been Tracy’s idea and he supposed he did owe Peter something. He hadn’t needed much convincing because he had wanted to see Peter again and in truth, he was surprised he hadn’t walked into a lamppost, let alone gone into central Park. He had been too busy watching Peter’s every movement to notice if he was still even breathing.
Everything Peter did was fascinating. Right down to the little quirk his mouth did when he stating something he believed in and the sweep of his hand as he continually had to brush his hair from his face.
After about the 162nd time Peter had done that, he knew the gesture by heart and wanted nothing more than to kiss those fingers in desperation. The impulse surprised him. That had been when he had blushed and dragged his gaze away long enough to realise where he was.
He was falling in love and hard. He wasn’t going to argue with himself the stupid point that he was straight and it was probably some phase that would pass because he didn’t believe in lying to himself.
Peter smirked and his heart thumped harder in his chest. He had missed everything that had just been said and he had the sinking feeling Peter knew exactly why.
“Sorry, what was that?” Nathan asked coughing to cover up his blush and missed Peter’s amused stare.
“I asked, why you are so tense?” Peter repeated. “It’s not good for you, you know.”
Because everything you do is driving me crazy, Nathan’s mind answered. He decided that wasn’t the best answer so went with his second reason.
“I’m just not a big fan of central park.” Nathan cringed as soon as he said it knowing the question that would follow.
“Why?” Peter immediately filled his expectations and didn’t notice his discomfort. He considered lying like he normally did when people asked that question but he was surprised to find he wanted Peter to know, just like he wanted to know everything about Peter in turn.
He did like the irony through. 20 years after the incident, he was back in the same place with a guy who held the same name as his little brother. Someone up there was laughing at him, he thought.
He started hesitantly. “When I was 18 my little brother was taken from here where he was playing… and murdered.” He didn’t look up knowing the horror that would mar Peter’s face as he could feel as it rolled off him in waves.
“Oh my god, Nathan. I’m so sorry… I…” He stopped not knowing what to say beyond that. It was too horrific.
He sighed. “It’s okay, you didn’t know. I came to terms with it along time ago.” He stopped for a second before continuing. “The guy was captured and he confessed despite the fact no body was ever found.” Peter continued to remain silent. He smiled grimly. He was an idiot who hadn’t thought about the consequences and now he’d ruined their day together.
