“Hey boys,” Nathan grinned as they barely stumbled to a stop before him. “How’s school?”
“Good, but Monty got a D on his report card. Ow!” Simon yelped as his little brother hit him for grassing him up. Peter grinned back and looked at Nathan.
“Well we’ll have to work on that won’t we,” Nathan suggested and held his hand out to Monty who took it. The young boy nodded his head solemnly then looked up at Peter with interest in his eyes. Something his mother had been doing for the last few minutes and it had been making him extremely uncomfortable.
“Everybody, this is Peter, he’s staying with me while he’s in New York. He’s travelled all over the world, can you believe...” Nathan said to amaze the boys but Peter still ended up blushing. He wondered if Nathan really thought he was amazing as he sounded.
“Wow, really?” Simon asked.
“Yeah,” Peter answered. He had a feeling Nathan wanted to talk to Heidi alone so he ushered the boys to the rear of the car. “You want to see something I learned in Japan. An awesome mate of mine named Hiro Nakamura taught me the art of origami...” he pulled out a piece of scrap paper while he heard Heidi begin talking.
“Who’s he really?” Heidi asked in fascination with the boy Nathan had brought along with him to see his kids. The first she has ever known about. “Are you dating him? I have no problem with you going out with a guy but he’s a little young. Isn’t he?”
“It’s not like that. It’s a long story that I really don’t want to get into.” Nathan said curtly. “All you need to know is that if Peter stays in New York he will be around the boys as much as I am so I wanted you to meet him.”
They heard a gasp of amazement and turned around to see Monty appear with some kind of paper bird in hand. “Look at this mom, it can fly and everything.”
“That’s great sweetie, thank the nice man,” she answered.
“Thank you Peter,” The boys said in unison. Heidi was amazed they had learned his name so fast. Not just that even. This new guy seemed to hold her ex husband enthralled as well. She’d never seen him so happy. She’d have to make sure to invite him somewhere and check he was legit.
“How about you give the bird to your mom, huh? I’m sure she’ll miss you all day and if you give her your bird to look after she’ll know you’ll come back to her.” Peter conspired with Simon.
“Yeah, Mom, can you look after this for me, pretty please?” Simon asked. Heidi smiled and took it as if it were real and could break in her hands.
“Sure, you have a good time, kay?” Heidi told them as the scrambled into the car. Peter stepped up to her and held out his hand which she took.
“It was nice to meet you. You’re much prettier than Nathan let on.” Peter said placing his other hand so in encaged hers. It was strange, when most men did that to her it felt threatening or flirty but when Peter did it, it felt like he was clinging on to her because he was afraid he was falling and would disappear. She tightened her grip strangely afraid he was right.
“I did tell you she was pretty. Don’t tell lies, Peter” Nathan joked from the other side of the car. Peter’s hand dropped to his side and smiled that strange tilted smile at her.
“Bye,” Heidi said, confused. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” She said to her kids.
In the car, Peter was fastening his seat belt when he realised Nathan was watching him. There was a mixture of confusion, amusement and something darker in his eyes that took his breath away.
“You don’t even realise you’re doing it do you. You just dazzled my ex-wife like most people say hello.” Nathan chuckled, ignoring the fight going on between the boys in the back seat.
“Stop messing around.” Peter huffed. “You’ve been talking to Jared haven’t you? I don’t have superpowers and I can’t make people say yes by fluttering my eyelashes!” He said. Nathan chuckled.
“Well, whatever you do,” Nathan said softly, “It worked on me...”
Peter turned to him, wondering if he really had just said what he thought he had said but Nathan had already turned away getting into gear.

“Get me out of here, I’m fine.” Jensen begged. It was so soon after he had gotten stabbed and he already hated the place. The pain wasn’t that bad if he didn’t move but that caused his bones to feel like lead and then he had to move just to feel alive again.
“What tired of my company already?” Jared joked. Jensen glared at him feebly. “I know, Jen, just wait until they release you and we’ll go wherever you want to go. That is if you still want anything to do with me.” Jared prompted gently.
He wanted to know if Jensen could forgive him. He knows he’s goddamned lucky Jensen hadn’t already screamed at him to take his psychopath ex-girlfriend and to leave him alone but the idea of Jensen not being in his life scared him so much tears pricked his eyes and he had to hide under his bangs so Jensen couldn’t see them.
How could he have been such a bad judge of character? Had Sandy always been that insane or was being in his presence the incentive she needed to jump off the cliff into madness laughing manically all the way. He’s gotten Jensen hurt, almost killed and he wanted to hurt Sandy but that was nothing compared to what he wanted to do to himself.
“What are you on about?” Jensen asked the sounded angry. “Are you trying to break up with me?”
“No, no I don’t want...” Jared tried to say, in shock.
“Then don’t scare me like that, Padalecki. I don’t want you out of my sight for a few weeks at least, Jared.” Jensen insisted. Jared smiled and nodded, that was exactly what he wanted too.

Nathan wondered where Peter had got to; now the boys were fast asleep. It had taken longer than usual getting them to bed because Peter had made them much more excitable than usual. He smiled, remembering all the things they had done that day. When he reached Peter’s room he stopped in his tracks. Peter was already asleep as well. He laughed softly.
He was still fully clothed and he had left his curtains wide open. Nathan sighed. He was sure he only had two kids, but right now it felt like three. He went over taking off Peter’s shoes. He didn’t dare go near his trousers, the idea itself made him blush. He moved to the edge of the bed and sat down next to the small frame of him.
Peter was really beautiful, even more so when his expression was made vunarable by sleep. He leant down and kissed him on the mouth. It was so unfair. All he wanted to do was to stay with Peter, stay with him like this. But he wasn’t even allowed that.
“Nathan...” Peter breathed hotly against his lips and Nathan pulled backwards, scared he’d woken Peter and that he would be mad but just as he pulled away he felt Peter move, catching him. Peter’s arms hooked around his neck so that his lips tauntingly followed his. Peter kissed him back and stole his breath away in one movement.
“Nathan,” Peter breathed again. He was still asleep Nathan realised and he tried to untangle himself before this became worse than it already was.
Then as he watched, Peter’s dazed eyes opened and widened. He threw himself back in shock scrambling to the very top of the bed and leaving Nathan lost and confused.
“Nathan?” He asked shakily. He looked around wildly as if to make sure where he was. Nathan tried to make sense of what had just happened. Swallowing proved more difficult then he imagined. It was hard to think when he could still feel Peter’s lips scotching marks onto his. Peter was acting guilty and it was his fault.
“Nathan, I’m so sorry. I didn’t mean for it...I mean, I’ve been trying so hard, my very best to be a good brother. Please say something.” He choked out. Nathan had no idea what to say to that.
