admittedly, im very proud at the level of clear-headedness i display when driving 75 mph down the road and a tire on an 18-wheeler suddenly blows out 5 feet from my head. ducking down at what first sounded like a gunshot, while maintaining control and dodging chunks of flying tire-tread. all that and i still didn't spill my beer. after leaving utah, i drove into colorado and set up camp off the beach of jackson lake. i set up for an early morning "pitch and ditch" as i like to call it: arrange things the night before in order to pack up and leave within 10 minutes, useful when sneaking into state parks, in order to avoid the (sometimes unreasonably steep) camping permit ( Read more... )

After the grand canyon, I drove to zion. I passed through FLDS territory (a cult-like offshoot of the mormons, whose church leader has wives as young as, like, 9) and into Zion.
