I spent two hours fixing my ex-landlady's computer on Tuesday night. For some unknown reason, Windows had decided it was an illegal copy and started throwing up "Your Windows is not genuine" messages all over the place and generally acting truculent.

Truck Festival
I had a good music-packed time at Truck Festival once again, despite the worst weather seen at the festival yet - the once-fabled Truck Weather Protection Field has definitely broken down. Not just rain, but lots of rain... not that it affected me much since I was happily ensconced in the barn at the time.

Not been to many gigs recently - in fact, only one in the past month. That was !!! last Thursday at the Zodiac. They were really good, didn't play my two favourites but did play Dear Can which was excellent live, very energetic. Anyway, the lack of live music recently will ( Read more... ) -

Emmy The Great @ Port Mahon
Limped my way to the Port Mahon on Sunday night to see Emmy The Great for the first time. She's bloody good, isn't she? I mean I have a bit of a soft spot for girls with acoustic guitars anyway, but Emmy was really impressive and the only bad thing I have to say about it was that she didn't play 'Atoms' which is a fantastic song. I have absolutely no idea what I've done or how I did it, but I've really hurt my left foot. It started on Wednesday I think, but it was just a twinge and I didn't really think anything of it, but now I'm hobbling around and grimacing lots. Day Three, Gig Three: Sleater-Kinney @ The Zodiac
I should have rented a room on Cowley Road for a few days, it would have saved some time!
Sole support was from The Priscilla's, an all-girl garage/fuzz-pop guitar band. I wasn't that impressed at first, but they grew on me as the set went on - occasionally clichéd but always fun, they had an enthusiasm and energy about them that was pretty ( Read more... )
