I should have rented a room on Cowley Road for a few days, it would have saved some time!
Sole support was from The Priscilla's, an all-girl garage/fuzz-pop guitar band. I wasn't that impressed at first, but they grew on me as the set went on - occasionally clichéd but always fun, they had an enthusiasm and energy about them that was pretty contagious. When I'm less tired I may go on an Internet-hunt for some of their songs.
By the time Sleater-Kinney came on, the place was packed, and they were greeted with quite a roar. I'm not familiar enough with song titles to reel off the entire setlist (random-playback is to blame for that, I never know song titles any more these days), but the opening bars of 'Modern Girl' got the biggest cheer from the crowd and 'Oh!' was my favourite song of the night. Sadly no 'All Hands On The Bad One' though - for some reason none of the bands I've seen recently have played my favourite song of theirs, I think they must know I'm coming or something. Anyway, the sound wasn't particularly great tonight, it was pretty muffled - I didn't notice who tonight's sound engineer was, but I have a sneaking suspicion it might well have been the band's own rather than someone from the Zodiac.
As an aside, I have played the Decemberists' 'July, July!' something like fifty gazillion times today. Really looking forward to seeing them tomorrow.
