Cat safe plants
I'm planning on starting an indoor window garden soon and was wondering if any one knows (or knows a helpful website) what plants are safe/not safe to grow around cats? I plan on growing mostly herbs, but may try some veggies. One of my kitties will probably take it upon herself to become a taste tester, so any help is appreciated.

Paw Pad healing - time or do something?
We have taken in a stray who showed up one day and took our Welcome Mat quite literally. I have no idea how long he had been outside, but he's been in our house for about 3 weeks now. Long, roundish, white grain (non moving) in fecal = tapeworm, correct?
Should I just dose with Drontal or take Apollo in and get something stronger? I've heard some OTC dewormers aren't 100% effective.
edit; either way, I'll be taking him in - I just wanted to be efficient in taking care of the worms while I wait for his appointment date. -

How to prep chicken for cats?
We bought some whole split breasts with skin on and now have some uncooked chicken ribs, skin, and a little meat leftover (we took out the tenderloins and breasts for our own dinner). I was wondering if I could feasibly boil this stuff and throw it in the blender to make a treat for the cats or if this would be a bad plan. Google turns up a lot ( Read more... ) -
Itchy Kitty
My 5 1/2 year old neutered male kitty has a spot that he scratches to the point of it bleeding. He does it fairly often - every few months or so. When he starts messing with it we try to control it with spraying a soothing anti-irritant spray on the spot and making sure his back nails are trimmed, and sometimes even using softpaws. Meds - Reglan and Metronidazole
I took Moo to the vet today because he had been vomiting the night before. The vet prescribed reglan and metronidazole to help with the vomiting and inflammation. I've looked them both up online and a possible side effect listed is nausea and vomiting. the vet told me no, they don't causes this. Excessive drooling, and behavior changes with ( Read more... ) -

After living on our front porch for a week and refusing to leave, we've taken in a stray.
