[Mingler] Gong Hey Fat Choy! (Congratulations and be prosperous)

Feb 04, 2011 00:12

Riku has fond memories of Setsuban or the Lunar New Year, and given the number of Chinese immigrants in their neighborhood, his dad had offered a double celebration at Omoro. And so, as part of continuing to give back to the Mansion and the people in it, he's spent the past day cooking up a buffet of Asian delicacies, including Chinese dumplings ( Read more... )

Angelique wanders in, absolutely not expecting the kitchen to be... well, whatever it is. Hm.

And sees the dragon. Her eyes widen.

She doesn't quite scream... but almost, and is in the doorway, her heart beating much faster than is healthy.

It's your best friend, Angelique!

A sword riding on his hip, and if he's not in a good mood, Sandor isn't in an extraordinarily poor mood either. "Relax, girl," he growls, from just behind her, since she is in the doorway and he was walking through. "It's not a real dragon. Don't be a fool."

She might bump into him, then, because she was cautiously backing out of the room, and the contact and the voice make Angelique squeak.

"-- Hound," she squeaks. "--- It's been a long time."

He tries to move away from her, and does, but not until after the bump, and his expression spasms a little. "So it has," he growls. "Good to see you're still a nervous fool."

The words are harsh, but he might be surreptitiously looking her over, making sure she's still...in one piece. He kind of doubts it every time.

Berger wanders in, and after spotting the chanting boy, Berger joins in the dancing and chanting with much enthusiasm.

"Bad spirits out! Good luck in!"

Riku doesn't pause in his pot-banging and dancing, but he does look up at the guy who's just joined in the fun. "Gong hey fat choy," he says. "That's 'Congratulations and be prosperous', in Chinese."

"Gong hey fat choy," Berger chants too, though his accent is positively horrendous. "Hey, what year's it?"

Riku smiles up at Berger, trying not to giggle at his wonky accent. "Oh, it's the Year of the Rabbit," he says. "It's a very lucky year."

There's going to be a medieval knight, large, almost filling in the doorway... and staring.

Because, seriously, wtf. Gawain has no clue what's going on, though he's thinking this --- thing --- whatever it is, doesn't look aggressive. And the boy is odd. And just -- what.

Everyone wants a Melisande for New Year's, are we right? And Gawain, it appears to be your lucky day. She is standing on the opposite side of the room, her mouth slightly curved and shaking her head in amusement.

No idea what's going on, but her eye has already caught the medieval knight. And hmm, she likes the looks of him. Mmyes.

He hasn't noticed the beautiful woman yet, but he will - Melisande is extremely hard to ignore, don't we know it.

Gawain takes to scanning the room, then does note the lady, and nods politely her way.

Well, thank you. That's as good as an invitation. And at that nod she swishes her hair back in a smooth motion that bares her throat before starting to move toward him.

Her dress is not quite provocative, but it is certainly...rich.

Robin isn't weirded out - he recognized the smell of dumplings a long ways away, and remembered the date, and is now... leaning against the wall, chuckling.

"Well I'll be damned," he says to no-one in particular. "I don't think I've actually seen any of this since the prohibition."

He's very, very amused.

The lion bobs mischievously and hops over toward Robin...until it's feet get tangled in a rug and it faceplants on the floor.

"Oof," it mutters.

Robin wanders over to help - "-- hey, are you alright?" He'll try to get under the mask, to make sure whoever's under (he has already a good idea who that might be) is alright.

The lion turns over on it's side and pops the mouth of the mask open. A familiar pretty face peeks out, his violet eyes sparkling. "I'm fine, it's just hard to see the throw rugs in this thing," Tsuzuki says, laughing.

Steerpike stared at the 'dragon' for a bit, then decided that it wasn't doing anything dangerous and shrugged it off as a weird ritual. If someone should know how weird rituals can be, it would be anyone from Gormenghast.

So here he is, sneaking behind Riku and lookiing at the maki rolls with curiosity.

There's a sudden loud clatter and someone yelps, startled. If he turns, the lion dancer has managed to trip on a floor lamp and to get tangled in a curtain, and is now sprawled on the floor.

Seriously, this feels almost like home. In case this is someone useful, Steerpike scrambles to help the silly dancer.

"Are you quite alright?"

The mouth of the lion's head pops open, and that tall, goofy fellow with violet eyes peers out, laughing. "Don't worry about me, I'm fine, I just didn't see that lamp or the curtain," he says.
