Yui and Caro, back in Thailand! We stayed in the city of Chiang Mai for five days and also met my Mum there who would join us for the rest of our trip. Chiang Mai is the second biggest city of Thailand. However, the population is just around 150,000. Vang Vieng is a small town located between the Capital Vientiane and the historic Luang Prabang. The city became quite famous in recent years due to its Tubing activities; many backpackers (especially from Australia) came to Vang Vieng to float down the Nam Song river in big tubes taken from old truck tires. Vientiane was the first stop on Yui's and my journey through Southeast Asia in Laos. I have to admit that I didn't have certain images or expectations of the country beforehand, just pieces of information I heard here and there. It came really as a surprise however to find such a well-developed, clean and organized city.

After leaving Hoi An, Yui and I went on a two day motorbike trip with the Hoi An Easy Riders to see more of the countryside and highlands of Vietnam before reaching our next stop Hue.

After a 17 hour ride on the train from Ho Chi Minh City, Yui and I arrived in Hoi An. I was very excited to come to the city as I've heard many good things about it from other travelers we met on our way. And I have to say; all of them were right. Phu Quoc is a Vietnamese island in the Gulf of Thailand. Yui and I stayed there from the 18th until the 23rd of January. It was a very spontaneous decision but I'm so glad we did go!

After a quite long and exhausting busride from Phnom Penh, Yui and I arrived in Ho Chi Minh City. Ho Chi Minh City, or Saigon as it used to be called, is the biggest city in Vietnam. I took some pictures from the rooftop of our hostel Vietnam Inn Saigon at night as I love the sight of lit up streets and buildings.

While waiting for my passport to get permission to entry Vietnam at the boarder from Cambodia, I decided to write the entry about Siem Reap/Angkor Wat. Siem Reap is the nearest city to the famous temple complex of Angkor Wat so most tourists visiting the temples are staying there. Phnom Penh is the capital city of Cambodia. I was really looking forward to go there since I love big, busy and especially Asian cities. And I wasn't disappointed! But let's start from the beginning; the bus from Kep took 5 hours to reach Phnom Penh. The hostel Yui and I booked is located in Street 88 and called 88backpackers.
