Eleventh Stop→HUE

After leaving Hoi An, Yui and I went on a two day motorbike trip with the Hoi An Easy Riders to see more of the countryside and highlands of Vietnam before reaching our next stop Hue.

We drove through the Central highlands of Vietnam. The scenery was breathtaking! We got to see misty mountains, lonely lakes and plashy rivers; so basically nature untouched by man. Our drivers, Van and Vien, were really nice and made sure that there were enough stops between the rides to enjoy the lovely landscape.

The four of us arrived in Hue on the 30th of January. Hue is the old capital city of Vietnam where the last emperor of Vietnam, Bao Dai, reigned until 1945. The Imperial City, the major tourist attraction in Hue, is surrounded by a wall. The inside of the citadel was the Purple Forbidden City to which only members of the emperor's family and their devoted followers were granted access.

The tombs of all the previous emperors are located in the surrounding area of Hue. Yui and I visited the tomb of Tu Duc, the 4th emperor of the Nguyen dynasty who reigned in the 19th century. The site is beautifully arranged with a temple and a tomb area situated in the middle of a pine forrest.

Yui and I then headed to Northern Vietnam as we took the train to Hanoi to visit Ha Long Bay. But, as usually, more about that in my next entry. See you☆彡
