For the first time in over seven months, I'm writing this post from Canadian soil! I got off the plane in Edmonton just over twelve hours ago. I've hugged my family, eaten, slept a bit, and only unpacked three items. So far, so good!

Apparently my French accent is really hard to place, now. I've spent four months (halfway point in this job, huzzah or boo!) here in Normandy, so my accent is slowly kind of normalizing into a Norman-ish French. However, I still use Québecois or old-fashioned words on occasion (even things like "auto" for "voiture" ("car") and such). My ( Read more... )

Grad school applications are... coming along. One professor made me panic slightly because though the applications I wanted her to act as a reference on aren't due until the second week of January, she wanted all of the info a month ahead of time and doesn't work over the Christmas break (understandable), and she has to take a week off in December ( Read more... )

Yesterday, I went to Bayeux with Christie, a Scottish assistant, to see that famous tapestry, you know the one, which was amazing to see in person.
