I just picked up a gently used 2007 Buell XB12STT to eventually replace my Ducati, if I ever get the title for it.

I got my motorcycle back on Tuesday afternoon. I almost made it home before having to stop and adjust a wonky rear brake lever, which for some reason had the idea that the rear brake should be on ALL THE TIME. My motorcycle has an aftermarket seat, which has a space for a neat little waterproof storage tube for tools, or raingear or whatever. However, my bike is missing the actual tube. I just called the seat's maker, and they are sending me one, for free, today. That's the kind of customer service that makes me want to do further business with them, ( Read more... )

Allegedly, they have gotten my motorcycle up and running, but didn't have time to change the tires yesterday. So they'll be doing that Tuesday morning and, theoretically, giving it back to me then after test-riding it for a while. So, I swung up by the motorcycle dealer on my lunch break to give them the keys to the loaner bike that left me stranded this morning (probable cause: faulty kickstand switch), and dropped back by the service area to talk to the guy working on my bike. So, I'm riding to work on the brand new loaner BMW motorcycle, and I get to about I-40 and Walker when it starts surging and bucking really badly. So I get off at the next exit, and the engine quits entirely. I don't even make it down the ramp. I restart the bike and make it about a block and a half before the engine quits again. I'm back from California, a mixed work-vacation trip. The work part was not a success, but the vacation part was pretty good. I went to the Petersen Automotive Museum and looked at shiny things, made a brief visit to the La Brea Tar Pits, Hung out with pstudarus and ekoos ate lots of good food, and went to Magic Mountain and rode coasters all day ( Read more... )

I've chosen a roofing company, and they're going to start in the next week or so. I'm still waiting to get the endorsed check from my insurance company back from my mortgage company. I've also gotten a loaner bike from the dealership. It's a new R1200 GS. It reminds me of a duck-billed hadrosaur.

Otherwise, I'm enjoying my four day weekend.

Firstly, I am back from traveling for a little while. I had an absolutely wonderful time in Tucson and Phoenix with korosz over the last few days. We hiked, we biked, we ate, we shopped, we went on a nerdy tour of the Solar Telescope and 2.1m optical telescope at Kitt Peak National Observatory, and we saw Eddie Izzard live, which was fabulous.
