So, I swung up by the motorcycle dealer on my lunch break to give them the keys to the loaner bike that left me stranded this morning (probable cause: faulty kickstand switch), and dropped back by the service area to talk to the guy working on my bike. I found out some disturbing information that has left me rather upset. Instead of an actual new motor being put into my bike, they're putting in a "new" motor. In this case, the quotation marks indicate that it is being removed from the other ST4S that came in on the same truck as my bike four months ago and transplanted into mine. This makes me unhappy for several reasons. First and foremost, I feel that I was misled into believing that I would be getting a NEW engine in my bike, and not a "new" engine. Second, there is absolutely no reason for them to have waited TWO MONTHS for the spurious reason of "waiting for the engine to get here" before they even started working on it. Third, I still haven't gotten the title paperwork, so I've got no bike, no title, and I'm still paying for it and paying insurance on it.
Unless the owner of the dealership can mount a really convincing case for himself, this is going to the BBB, Ducati North America, Consumerist, and wherever else I can think of. I'm also pretty sure that if I can't get them to give me my money back outright, as soon as I get that title, I'm taking it down to the Honda shop (or wherever) and buying something Japanese. Fuck Europe.
