So, the machine was all together by early yesterday afternoon, and booted into Linux via LILO with no problems whatsoever. I puttered around there checking sound worked etc. and then decided it was time to see how difficult Windows XP was going to be about the HD being moved to a totally different machine.

That being flyingsnow ordering bits for a substantial computer upgrade for me :). Of course I will be paying back most, if not all, of the money, but using her credit card means getting it now rather than after months of saving up. Sooooo. Having some movies and stuff to get off hard disk and onto CDs I ordered 100 blank CD-R last week. The order was delivered yesterday.
