Singer, dancer, actor, newscaster, model. Idol, to put it simply. But behind Sakurai Sho’s public image is a sincere, dorky, passionate man. Few people get to see a real glimpse of the person behind the lights, except for what he chooses to display.
Friends, sure, but love? That’s impossible, according to the intelligent, beautiful and humble Kaori, a medical school student who doesn’t realize how much she can accomplish. But maybe, just maybe, she’s exactly what Sakurai Sho needs.
Chapter 1: Kaori dusted herself off with composure and was surprised to find Sakurai Sho staring at her. He had watched the whole spectacle.
Chapter 2: “Be careful, Sakurai-san. If Johnny’s prized idol got hurt on my watch I would get fired right away.” she joked.
Chapter 3, part 1: Sho sighed. He knew that his mother had good intentions, but he could find someone on his own, thank you very much.
Chapter 3, part 2: "... Don’t let Johnny-san intimidate you, ne. It’s just his way of having fun.”
Chapter 4: nbsp;Sho and Kaori glanced at each other for an uncomfortable second. “Iye, separate tabs please!” Kaori spoke up. Or else it would seem like a date, which it obviously wasn’t.
Chapter 5: Kaori and Sho came to the front of the room; she gave him an uncertain look - why did he seem so much more accustomed to induced humiliation?
Chapter 6, part 1: Tonight was his time to relax, and at the moment the thought of women just took too much wit that he didn’t have the energy for.
Chapter 6, part 2: After all these years, he was so used to women coming onto him that he didn’t really have any practice in taking initiative himself.
Chapter 7: “Heading down to dinner?” he asked casually, checking his watch. “We should hurry.”
Chapter 8: “… Our relationship isn’t like that, Ogiwara-san. We’re hardly even co-workers.”
Chapter 9: “Can idols not be friends with normal people?” she half-joked.
Chapter 10, part 1: “It looks like I protected myself perfectly fine this time.” she muttered wryly.
Chapter 10, part 2: “I’m not stupid. I know where this is going.” And it terrified her.
Chapter 11, part 1: “You PUNK--!”
Chapter 11, part 2: "However, I think jean sweatpants are on a whole level of fashion crimes.” Now she was just messing with him.
Chapter 12: Maybe Kaori was still learning to believe in herself as well.
Chapter 13: He tried to fight the gnawing feeling in his gut.
Chapter 14, Part 1: Children should always have dreams. “Yakusoku.”
Chapter 14, Part 2: “Before you go, Sakurai-san,” Kaori started. “Can I ask a favor of you?”
Chapter 15: “Don’t, Kaori. Don’t you dare blame yourself.”
Chapter 16: If they had to hide, maybe it could be in plain sight.
Chapter 17: Medicine could be given to cure ailments, casts used to heal broken bones, but what words could be said to fix a broken heart?
Chapter 18: The man pulled her close by the waist and clung to her for dear life - or at any rate, that was his excuse.
Chapter 19, part 1: “EH, what kind of doctor is this, handing out sugar?”
Chapter 19, part 2: Chiharu answered the door with raised brows. This guy messed up AGAIN?
Chapter 19, part 3: The doctor germ-a-phobe in her panicked.
Chapter 20: "As the birthday boy, I have a request.”
Chapter 21: “If my heart beat needs to be lowered, maybe they should have sent a less attractive doctor.”
Chapter 22: “Oi, Doctor, let’s get back to work!” Sho murmured, nudging her under the table.
Chapter 23: Sho wanted to take advantage of the fact that he was a nobody in Romania.
Chapter 24, part 1: “Otou-san, okaa-san… This is Sakurai Sho.”
Chapter 24, part 2: And there was the punch.
Chapter 25, part 1: The elite Jimusho has been trying to dispel rumors, but the pictures speak for themselves...
Chapter 25, part 2: "Just be patient and don’t accept anything less than you deserve, which is much.”
Chapter 25, part 3: “So then - let’s just end this.”
Chapter 26: His chest hurt; he hadn’t heard her voice in so long.
Ohno-centric interlude: He knew that one day, he’d come back for her.
Chapter 27, part 1: “-- BAKA!” Sakurai Sayuri scolded, smacking her unsuspecting son with a spatula.
Chapter 27, part 2: He put up his hands in defense. “I’m not asking for a date! I’m just a friend asking a friend.”
Chapter 28: “English writer G.K. Chesterton once said, ‘The way to love anything is to realize that it may be lost'..."
Chapter 29, part 1: She took a step forward, then felt a little vibration from the floor and froze.
Chapter 29, part 2: "Please, Kaori, p-please just be okay. Just come back. Come back safely.”
Chapter 30: Arashi’s manager felt like a bug under a microscope in the giant office of Johnny Kitagawa.
Chapter 31: “I couldn’t let you miss out on the slow dances, could I?”
Chapter 32: “The whole group - Japan’s adored - in jeopardy because of one member’s happiness? Shachou, you have so little faith in the fans that you’ve created.”
Chapter 33, part 1: “Do you mind if I just… sit around for awhile? For old time’s sake.”
Chapter 33, part 2: “It just made me think… is there anything else you aren’t telling me?”
Chapter 34, part 1: Murmurs slowly buzzed around the auditorium. Surely it wasn’t disbandment?
Chapter 34, part 2: Discovery, instinct, ecstasy.
Chapter 35: His furrowed gaze wandered down to her stomach, then straight in her watery eyes. “Y-you aren’t…?”
Chapter 36: Despite all he had theorized, there was no practice run on how to be a husband.
Chapter 37: Because in the end, no matter how busy Sho was, he always came back to her just as he’d promised.
Chapter 38: "Okaa-san, do you remember those old wives tales you and obaa-chan used to tell me?"
Chapter 39: "Just think - by the time the next Arafes rolls around, you'll be a father."
Chapter 40: The child had the same straight nose as his father and the same expressive eyes as his mother.
