Summary
What can you do when you fall in love with someone that is out of your reach, someone as distant and brilliant as the stars?  Can one dare to
dream? Singer, dancer, actor, newscaster, model.  Idol, to put it simply.  But behind Sakurai Sho’s public image is a sincere, dorky,
passionate man.  Few people get to see a real glimpse of the person behind the lights, except for what he chooses to display.

Friends, sure, but love?  That’s impossible, according to the intelligent, beautiful and humble Kaori, a medical school student who doesn’t realize how much she can accomplish.  But maybe, just maybe, she’s exactly what Sakurai Sho needs.

In an unprecedented event in the history of the fandom, a selected two hundred of the most active members of Arashi’s family club cheered with excitement as the five handsome men took the stage for a secret announcement.  They bowed in unison in a line with hands held.  Behind their small smiles and waves to the crowd, it was clear that they were anxious, like animals in a cage surrounded on all sides by bright lights and meddling eyes.

Aiba Masaki began with a show of teeth and a humble tone.

“Minna-sama, konnichiwa.  Thank you for taking the time to gather here today.  You’re probably wondering what’s going on, ne?  The five of us respectfully ask that you please show us your favor and listen with open minds to what we have to say.”

Ninomiya Kazunari spoke next.  “Please don’t be alarmed, but this is going to be a… an important discussion.  Arashi, our managers, Johnny Kitagawa-san, we have all come to an agreement.  It was a difficult and lengthy process, but after much planning we are more than happy and willing to move forward in this way.”

Murmurs slowly buzzed around the auditorium.  Surely it wasn’t disbandment?

Matsumoto Jun continued.  “Over the past thirteen years, you have supported us with everything we’ve done, both as a group and as individuals.  All that we’ve been able to see and do, we owe to you all.  No matter what kind of role we serve in your lives, we hope that we’ve earned your trust.  Even though we have the title of idols, we also hope that you see that we are human as well.”

Ohno Satoshi murmured, “So… as humans, we need your understanding.  We are all behind Sakurai Sho-kun one-hundred percent.  I know that Arashi will change, but grow even stronger because of this.  Believe that.  And now, for the announcement.”

With clammy, shaking fists, Sakurai Sho raised the microphone to his lips.  His heart felt like it was going to leap out of his throat and choke the rehearsed words away.  What kept his feet steady were the four people beside him, and the one waiting backstage.  “…  I, Arashi’s Sakurai Sho, am here to announce my upcoming marriage.”

The uproar was immediate and frightening - gasps, screams, cries of outrage and shock all rolled into a tidal wave of alarm that could not be pacified by the other members.  As he slowly exposed his bowed back to the audience, it felt like four hundred daggers were flying down to pierce him.  Sho stumbled, started and stopped with the speech he had painstakingly prepared, but was cut off again and again by protests.  He couldn’t tell if the reaction was more so amazement or distress, but kept his head down, hoping that a miracle would happen.
Suddenly there was a synchronized hush throughout the crowd like a gust of wind; a small hand rest on Sho’s back.  He straightened up slowly as a softer, calmer voice echoed throughout the space.

“Everyone - please - settle down for a moment.”

In deadly silence, the fans stared at the beautiful woman who had glided to their idol’s side.  Though their stomachs lurched when she gripped his hand tightly, they awed at Kureha’s confident, unapologetic aura, and the sudden glow that came over Sakurai Sho’s face as he gazed down at her.  They had never seen such an effervescent, strong, and golden expression from him before.

“Kaori, what are you doing?” Sho whispered hoarsely.

“I’m saving your butt.” she smiled bravely, before taking a deep breath and turning to the audience.  “Hello, everyone…   Kureha desu.  I am Sakurai-san’s fiancée.  Yoroshiku onegai itashimasu.”

The pair stood there together under the storm of confusion and slowly but surely with calm and honest explanations of major events up to this point, their evident, real love struck each fan’s heart.  It seemed like the perfect love story - it was true life inspiration more than an idol fantasy that they all needed.  Deep down no matter how jealous, they couldn’t deny Sho his happiness.  The groans gave way to cheers and cries of congratulations, and the couple received their showers of blessings.

It all suddenly made perfect sense to him.  With the fans to work for in front of him, and with Arashi spurring him on from behind, Kaori was the last piece of the puzzle - someone to run with him at his side.

I'm SO sorry for not updating in so long... life has been super busy >_<  This is more of a filler chapter, I suppose.  I'll continue with the wedding next; didn't want to rush such an important chapter!
