Posting from work is not the best idea. However...we had a little snow. Not a lot but ill-timed and it took me two hours to get into work with some sliding and white-knuckled moments. Who the hell thought Pax was a good name for a crippling winter storm? We're waiting here for the snow to start. Looks as if they're ordering everyone off the roads in advance. #2 overheard the school principal telling someone school was closed tomorrow FOR SURE. And I don't doubt it.

Sometimes they don't want to close school but the streets are bad and instead they opt for a two hour delay in opening. This is generally the worst of all possible options for the working parent. How do you put in an 8 hour day with 2 hours of commuting when you have to hang around waiting to put a youngling on the bus...and then pick him up at the ( Read more... )

School and WORK! Woot!

#2's Osiris costume is made of fabric scraps, duct tape, a furry bath mat, a re-purposed rubber belt, and a twisty snake. Pics to follow. Now to walk the dog in a hurricane and come home to bake while the oven still works.

Even years seem to work out for me. I tried in 2007 and didn't make count, although I did finish the story. It just wasn't that long a story :) In 2008 and 2010 I tried and won, although I never finished either novel. Which makes me sad. So now it's 2012. My parents will be here for a week and a bit over Thanksgiving which should make it... ( Read more... )
