Robbie and I had a good time in Newfoundland. The weather was only mildly crappy. There was rain for a few days, but then we actually saw the sun for several days as well, so no complaints!

I just got back from a weeklong trip to Minnesota. It was time for my yearly medical exam, and I enjoyed seeing my doctor, Dr. Virant again. I left on a Sunday and returned on a Sunday, which is usually a good idea from the perspective of driving. It has been a busy summer and my muse for writing has pretty much deserted me. August in particular has been a full month. There has been wild weather, big thunderstorms and tornados in our area and Hurricane Irene up along the east coast; a great Canadian politician died (somewhat) unexpectedly; the CRA and the IRS continue to disagree as to my ( Read more... )

People are probably sick of hearing me say it, but it never ceases to amaze me how beneficial a little sunlight can be in my life! So we are back in Canada. We left on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 and spent a lovely five days with our family in PA and NJ. We left on Sunday, the 27th and drove to northern New Jersey to visit an online acquaintance of Robbie’s. It was hard getting up this morning. I was very tired last night and while I stayed up until almost1 AM, I was unable to roust myself from bed until after 10. The usual Monday activities - cleaning, laundry, reviewing finances, the calendar, etc - have all been done. I took my walk, had lunch at the 50’s Diner. The rains have been persistent and depressing these last couple of weeks. Fall can be a lovely time of year when it is sunny and bright, with glowing coloured leaves in the sunshine framed by deep blue skies. But this year, alas, has been a wet one. I think we are all ready for Christmas now. The decorations are up, the tree (did I mention we got a REAL tree this year? It looks and smells so great!) is decorated, Robbie has even done up the front porch in a very seasonal way.
