It was hard getting up this morning. I was very tired last night and while I stayed up until almost1 AM, I was unable to roust myself from bed until after 10. The usual Monday activities - cleaning, laundry, reviewing finances, the calendar, etc - have all been done. I took my walk, had lunch at the 50’s Diner. That place has gone downhill since their renovations. The place looks great, but the food quality and service are much worse. I can’t say I have had a good meal there since the change. I don’t know if there was a change in ownership or what. I don’t see the same people in the kitchen, and my favourite waitron has not been seen in weeks. I may have to find another favourite little downtown restaurant.
Robbie predicted yesterday that the leaves on the big maple in the front garden would be gone in a few days. He was right. The beautiful red-tinged yellow leaves are almost all on the ground today. It has been windy, though not as cold as it has been last week. Seeing our beautiful maple stripped of its golden tresses is a little depressing. Like most of this year, the fall has been cool, damp and not altogether enjoyable, although there have been some good days.
The Farmers Almanac is predicting a hard winter for us, even though Climate Canada is saying it will be a mild winter. Given the history of our climate lately, I am inclined to believe in the Almanac.
