Yesterday was the final day of SIFF. I saw three films, then went to the closing night party. Today I recuperated from the sleep that has left me a slacker on my journal later, then went to a going-away party for some of the people who live elsewhere, but have spent the past few weeks in Seattle just for SIFF.

This afternoon "J" and I went out for brunch at a favorite restaurant, a neighborhood diner. We both had omelets, which seem to be a specialty there. They were delicious.

On Christmas Eve, I mentioned a gadget I bought so "J" could play music from her iPhone through the car radio. As I wrote, the electronics in the gadget worked fine, but the mechanical side of the plug was not good, so it came disconnected unless it was carefully held in place manually. I hope everyone has had a happy Festivus today. Because my aluminum pole is in storage somewhere, I had to substitute my steel weather station mast, on the roof. The Airing of Grievances was mostly about a third party, not present. The Feats of Strength were yesterday; we skipped the gym today. I even had something of a Festivus miracle.

The day - in the sense of the midnight-to-midnight period - started out not very good, because the weather here caused us to miss out on the lunar eclipse. I like the rain - the way it makes the air smell fresh, and makes the Seattle area so green - but when it interferes with an infrequent astronomy event, it's annoying. This afternoon, "J" and I went to the usual Sunday brunch on Capitol Hill. We got there slightly earlier than usual, and avoided the rush to get our orders placed before the end of brunch hours. The food was good. All of the regulars were present.

This evening, "J" and I went on a cat-care mission. Her friend "L" is away, and L's cat is home alone. L asked that, in addition to making sure that the cat had food and water, we should offer the cat a little company. So, we planned to allow some time to hang out there, rather than just dropping in, doing the duties, and leaving.
