After I got "T" to sleep last night, I got to work on finally copying my off-line journal entries to on-line, for the rest of the eclipse trip, this year's SIFF, and the beginning of SIFF streaming. It was a much bigger task than I had expected, and ended up as an all-nighter. Oops.

I did something foolish while taking "T" to school. I had a defective product - a frozen orange juice package with a rip at the rim - to return to the grocery store and a travel mug of tea. But when I got to the car, the door wouldn't unlock because I forgot my keys (and mask). I put the items on the roof of the car, and went back for keys and ( Read more... )

Back on November 28, I complained about how Livejournal broken mobile web posting. It's still broken, even though I raised a support request, and reopened it when they answered with the unhelpful advice to update the app. The problem isn't the app, it's that posting from mobile web view (even with the browser's "desktop site" option checked) ( Read more... )

Thanks Livejournal, for breaking browser-based posting from mobile devices. Sure, maybe you want people to use your app from phones, but it doesn't seem to support "disable autoformat". I happen to like posting with my own HTML formatting. It makes my postings format the way I want them.

Today I brought out the new table saw to rip the rest of the Row 72 floorboards. They're not all the same width; the east wall of the bedroom curves just enough that the space between Row 71 and the wall varies a little. But in all cases there's room for boards that aren't inconveniently narrow, but narrow enough that I can get two Row 72 boards ( Read more... )

A couple of days ago, I received an invitation for "J" and I to attend a small (I think) gathering with Melanie Lynskey for this afternoon. But somehow I managed to forget to add it to my schedule of plans for this afternoon, so we missed it. From people who attended, we heard that it was a really nice event. Today "J" and I went to brunch, which was a bit of a novelty, because J hasn't been going to brunch very often lately. Also attending were regulars "M" and "N", intermittent participants "W" and another "J", and regular "C". (Another regular "J" is still out of town.) So it was a pretty good turn-out. I just received a robo‑call from a very confused robot. The recorded message began something like, "Winter is here and your furnace will be working overtime . . ."
