Kids are off to bed, even as they are fighting to stay awake. Cam made a mess in the bath, so he didn't get a full washdown, but I made sure he cleaned up his watery mess before sending him to bed.

I've got a good idea of what I will be working on this winter, time permitting between the big client project. A Warm Window roman shade, with topping valance, for my dining room windows. I hate sitting at the dining table near the window in the winter, as I get very cold there, even with a blanket wrapped around me. This, I think, will do the job ( Read more... )

Not that the drapes were hard to do... well, the valance ended up a pain in the pattoot, because I had two different instructions that I only semi-read, had the worst lining fabric originally, and found that finishing things by hand really was the best choice. I know, it should have been up earlier, but I couldn't do it. I couldn't leave it alone to look... puffy, when it shouldn't be puffy. I realized I would forever stare at it, knowing how bad it looked. So I picked it apart, sewed back on the lining I had cut off, pressed it, and carefully pinned and resewed it back together. Not as well done as I had hoped, as the lining of the upper section got messed up and ended up a bit shorted while sewing it in. Note for next time I do a valance like this, to measure and pin the sections, both fashion fabric and lining, and carefully pin them together. My living room valance is nearing completion. Finally nearing the end of that one piece. I really have more respect for people who make curtains for a living. And I am glad I bit the bullet and switched to a real curtain lining, because that stuff from my stash was waaaaayyyyy to slinky to do any good as a curtain lining, not to mention driving me ( Read more... )
