Window coverings

I've got a good idea of what I will be working on this winter, time permitting between the big client project. A Warm Window roman shade, with topping valance, for my dining room windows. I hate sitting at the dining table near the window in the winter, as I get very cold there, even with a blanket wrapped around me. This, I think, will do the job nicely, and I can make it myself.

Thankfully, Joann's carries the needed materials. I just need to wait for the next sale or coupon off to get the stuff, and measure my windows, which I need to do anyways to make the shade. The valance I've already got set in my mind as to how to make that. Oh, and must remember to buy a drywall t-square to make measuring the fabric easier. That was a suggestion in their pdf file on how to make the roman shades (see the bottom of their page).

And if it comes out nicely enough, I may modify my plans for my sewing room shades to make at least one in here as well, to block the afternoon sun window, which often makes my sewing room rather too warm to work in.

EDIT: Reading the instructions, it even gives a few tips on how to improve the insulation of the house from common leaking areas (pg 25).
