i've been stretching every morning for... about a week now. maybe a week and a half, i'm not sure. at first it was rough going - muscles didn't want to relax long enough to actually unwind, especially while cold in the morning, and that was frustrating. then i had my massage on tuesday, and i was reminded why i pay for those once a month. the beautiful winter haze continues. i haven't seen the sun in a few days, and to my surprise, it really doesn't bother me. even in winter/storm season, the bay area gets some sun in between; this constant haze/fog/cloud cover is a bit unusual. there's lots of spare the air warnings because the particles in the air aren't going anywhere. and, ( Read more... )

capoeira: week 3 was interesting. our mestre (teacher) is a certified massage therapist and he specializes in capoeira massage, which is designed to relax the muscle groups that get the most intense workout. but, he's good in other areas, like shiatsu. so the class was definitely athletic; we practiced more combinations and less partner work; but ( Read more... )

 a good walk and some stretching yesterday (along with some aleve) seems to have mostly alleviated the ultra-soreness in my calf muscles. which is good, 'cause for a while i was sort of hobbling everywhere.

all my clients have me arriving at 10 am or later so i'm feeling out what it's like to exercise in the morning. i'm not entirely sold on the process. for one, the body isn't warmed up at all right after sleep. for another, i hate showering right before leaving the house b/c none of my clothes fit right when damp. also, it gets aiden all riled up ( Read more... )
