Busy week here.  The tenants are moving in on Friday and we still have the cats at the old house.  The woman who was going to have them while we're away and agreed to take them earlier hasn't begun the work she was having done in her house and now won't be able to have them for a few weeks.  So we're going to bring them here on Thursday and try to ( Read more... )

Today we said goodbye to Merlin.

D returns from Sweden tomorrow.  I feel like a train wreck (ok, so what else is new?)  and I so need a few hours to myself!  I've become rather sleep deprived this week, for a number of reasons.

I swear, I have the dumbest cat ever.  Sid was asking to go out, so I let him out the kitchen door.  Five minutes later I went upstairs and found him perched outside the study window.  I don't even want to know how he got there.

I love snow.  That is, I love curling up in bed with a big mug of coffee or a bowl of soup while it's snowing outside.  It's so....clean and beautiful and fresh and new.  Today was the second proper snowfall we've had in the 7 years we've been in England.  Tonight, after dinner, we took the kids and the dog to a nearby field next to campus to romp ( Read more... )

I remembered - or rather, was reminded - today that I had never updated about Sidney.  He's home!  He came back a couple of weeks ago, a little thinner and mangier than usual, but alive.  He then spent about a week pretty much eating and sleeping with short visits to the garden for toilet breaks and is now back to his normal and sweet little self ( Read more... )

Well, the truth has come out.  B did indeed draw a superhero taking a crap.  And the only thing that really upsets me about this is the fact that he lied about it.  I specifically asked him if he either wrote something offensive or drew the superhero crapping.  The caption on the picture read "The superhero is on the toilet".  Seriously.
