It's that time of year again where I start to ponder.  This happens every year around my birthday.  It began 11 years ago when I had an existential crisis and it hasn't stopped.  The year it turned 30 I could feel it coming on for months before so I betook myself (and five month old M, at the time) to a different time zone for a week.

J has had his first cold and fever.  Poor boy - couldn't figure out why he was such a mess last Friday until he woke up in the middle of the night all hot and snuffly.  We all survived it, though it was a bit of a hard weekend.  He's doing much better now and actually slept for 6 hours straight last night - for the first time in a long while...

Well, I'm feeling a lot better today than I have for the last few days.  jollymiller drove down for a short visit (I think she'll have ended up spending twice as long in the car than in my house!).  I know I said it all last time she came, but there's something about seeing an old friend....sigh.  I feel thoroughly refreshed.

Seriously, I never imagined the end of pregnancy could be so annoying.  With B, my contract wasn't due to end until the day before my due date, so his rather early arrival didn't give me any free time to brood.  With M, I was feeling kind of antsy because of the whole on-and-off contractions thing, but I had B to take care of and people to hang out ( Read more... )

I'm so annoyed.  The liner for the pool, which was supposed to be delivered on Wednesday, was actually delivered yesterday.  Rather, a delivery was attempted, but I just happened to be picking up the kids from school and missed it.  Blech.  Luckily I was able to arrange to have it delivered today and for it to be left outside the front door if I ( Read more... )

The last few days have been really great.  The study is nearly done (just have to finish a bit more above the picture rail) and most of the study furniture is back inside.  Once it's all in, we can tackle the guest room (which is an absolute tip) and paint our bedroom.  And then I can relax and get ready to have a baby.

Well, I suppose it was hard to avoid.  Dr K phoned yesterday to tell me that my hemoglobin is down to 10.1 - and this after the warning from the SOM  - well, perhaps 'warning' is too strong a word - about my hemoglobin really needing to be at least 10.5.  It isn't like the number is going to pop out at anyone while I'm in labor, because it's not in ( Read more... )

We're finally starting to see the light at the end of the renovation tunnel.  Today I painted that bit of hallway that was replastered after D had to cut a chunk out of it to put in wires for a thermostat.  Tomorrow I'll paint the study.  Once we get the study furniture and bookcases back in, the upstairs will start looking like home again.
