Time is slowly passing but too slow for my tastes. I sit here in the desert wanting - needing - something more to do than this. I randomly check online for things to do or things to apply to but come up with little to nothing - or without enough time to do what needs to be done for the application process.

I went camping for two nights over the weekend with my family - father, uncle, brother, brother's wife, and 14 mo. old nephew - near Lake Hemet on the way up to Idyllwild which was a nice change from this bloody desert. It was full of huge pine trees and actually got cold at night; a nice change from down at the desert floor up in the mountains. I ( Read more... )

While at least I have work out of the way (for now), I'm still spending far too much time at home because I don't have much else to do or people to see or really, much of anything. I'll be 27 in two days. Time seems to be going by so fast; flying by, even. It's almost hard to believe that one year has passed and my time in Australia is up. I remember last year's birthday so vividly because I was all alone in a foreign country having moved there mere weeks ago and barely knew any of the international students there. Today is not only the end of February but it is, apparently, the end of summer down under.
I'm not really sure where all of that time has gone. I have been out of university since mid-November and yet time has passed and my second - and final - semester will start soon. The whirlwind of school and work will continue and suddenly my dad will be here ( Read more... )

Imagine that? I've been in Australia for almost a month now...
Thoughts so far:

• I hate winter. I'm excited about the prospect of spring soon, now that we're finally getting up from the 40's and 50's to a much happier 61 degrees F today. Yay. Weird to think about Christmas summer vacation though... Christmas dinner = shrimp on the barbie?!! Maybe.
