My days of cooking with pre-schoolers are numbered (approximately 185, assuming LB starts school mid-September), so I thought I would note down what I have learned, so I can look back fondly and also in case it is of use for other people.

The quieter LJ becomes, the more I feel one of my prime reasons for keeping on posting is as a diary I can look back on in the future. I'm very busy at the moment, so don't have time to do a proper post or send emails to the various people I owe them to. Runny grobbles (stewed crab apples) with yoghurt and museli
Wholemeal bread with butter and honey
Few mouthfuls of milk

Pre school-run snack:
1/2 an apple

Midmorning snack:
rest of the apple

Lunch:
White roll with butter, with a little bit of secret cheese. Anchovy fillets in the roll but not actually eaten (too vinegary, I think)

Impressions and few emotions because I was an absent parent for all but breakfast:

One of his fruitbat + bread days, apparently.

Fruit included pineapple, orange and apple.

But also, notably, a small quantity of the mild cheddar purchased the other day. Accepted under the ruse that it is secret cheese, just for LB, not for anyone else (luckily, PB ( Read more... )

bowlful of plain yoghurt with a couple of teaspoons of crab apple jam 
To my great surprise, he got over his initial meltdown that the yoghurt wasn't in little pots with a lid but came from a big pot (also with a lid, but clearly not the right sort of lid). I don't know whether that was because he was persuaded by my ( Read more... )

Baked potato with beans, cheese and tuna 
Wearily resigned to the fact that he regularly refuses to eat this very meal (without the tuna) at home. Don't think it's the tuna that makes the difference.
