The quieter LJ becomes, the more I feel one of my prime reasons for keeping on posting is as a diary I can look back on in the future. I'm very busy at the moment, so don't have time to do a proper post or send emails to the various people I owe them to. Those two sentences are connected only because they are pathetic excuses for what is frankly a 'cute things my kids have said recently' post.

LB, describing a castle he will build to live in when he is grown-up 'And it won't have siege towers because nowadays we have Agreements'. [This comes from my explanation as to why people don't (usually) live in castles any more, which was a bit more complex than this but did include the notion that nowadays there are a greater range of ways of sorting out your disagreements than besieging a castle]

LB is yet again trying to climb onto my lap during tea, which I find very annoying. I say so and tell him to stop.
PB [trying to help, waving an imaginary magic wand at LB] I turn you into a cat and put you in a cat basket
LB I'm climbing out of the basket!
PB I've locked the basket with a key
LB I've grabbed the key and put it in the key-lock [this means keyhole]
PB I've disappeared the key-lock
LB [Delightedly] Well then I can just climb out of the basket!

I made Macaroni Cheese for tea tonight which is PB's favourite food of all time, and is usually made by D.
Me: And is it alright? Is it as good as when Daddy makes it?
PB [nodding vigorously] Mmm. Even better, actually.
Me: Even better? Wow. I am honoured.
PB: But not as good as the Macaroni Cheese we have at school.
[That's me told then. Not as good as school dinner food.]
