Phone

Yay:
I have a smartphone! I can pick up email and LJ and stuff as long as I'm in range of wifi (which is most of the time in my everyday life). I like it very much.

Boo:
It was so extraordinarily cheap (£59!) and thus has so little memory that I can't actually use the camera, store any music or use many of the apps.

But yay:
I have bought 16 Units (am always confused between B (do you still get anything measured in these anymore?) and KB and MB) of extra memory on a little black rectangular thingummy, for a mere £11, which I am told will enable me to do all these other exciting things once I have inserted the one into the other.

But boo:
I lost the phone yesterday. I thought I'd left it in work, but this morning this was clearly not the case.

But yay:
I rang the phone, just in case it was hiding in my office somewhere and someone answered it. My initially surprised and somewhat hostile 'that's my phone you're got there!' soon changed to happiness as it became apparent that the person I was speaking to was a flustered older woman who had planned to get her son to deal with it later. She lives near me and found it on the local Green. I have arranged a rendezvous at her sheltered housing complex tomorrow. I think a bunch of flowers is definitely in order. I suspect we will know each other, as she said she worked in one of the local charity shops. This makes me feel all happy about being connected to my local community and people being mostly honest and so on.

But (very minor) boo:
I don't have my phone til tomorrow, so don't text or ring me, or you'll fluster my benefactor further.

Further unrelated yays:
The children adore the ringtones it came with. They dance to them, varying the dance to suit the style of ringtone. They (and I) are particularly partial to one we have christened 'whistle and sick' - PB noticed that there's someone blowing a whistle in the middle of it and I opined that the end bit sounds like someone being sick. My sense of humour seems to be regressing.
