GFWTR and I got up Saturday and went and shot the sporting clays league we joined. We missed last week while we were in southern Ohio on our weekend get away. The league is normally 50 birds. We shot our make up round too, so we shot 100 birds. The wind was pretty bad and for the first fifty it was single, single, true pair at each station. ( Read more... )

On the surface I am pleased the SCOTUS struck down the Chicago handgun ban and strengthen the idea the Second Amendment is the right of the people. That said, I have many poorly defined doubts about the decision having only read the syllabus (a 6pg summary at the beginning of the court's decision). So as usual the rabid 10mm fanboys love to talk up all the wonderful aspects of the 10mm Auto. I had posted earlier about just how cool the 10mm Auto cartridge is. I ran into another interesting an more technical discussion a few days ago.

( Some what technical and very lengthly post about a comparison of the revered 10mm Auto to several other common (an not so common) semi-auto and revolver cartridges. A nifty graph I made included too. )

So I have an opportunity to buy a Springfield Armory 1911 (one of the models in the Loaded series) at a very nice price and I have a gun buying itch that really needs scratched. So way back in August 2006 I wrote a post about a conceptual revolver that was "upside down". Not completely but the barrel lined up with the bottom of the cylinder rather than the top as a traditional revolver does.
