It's all part of pushing our parent club to give us the OK and funds to build 5 more small pistol bays. So GFWTR and I shot sporting clays Saturday. I shot really badly setting a new personal low. (conversly GFWTR tie her personal best on the second 50 birds) Sort of disappointing after setting my personal high the previous time out. This past weekend's match, I won Limited-10 and took second in Production. The kicker is on my Limited-10 run the stage I though I had "Zenned" my way through and shot so well. Well that was the only stage I did not win, I was third on the stage, winning the other three. Go figure.

Friday I took off work and Abby, GFWTR and myself went to the zoo. We had a nice day. Abby loves the monkeys (except the gorillas), fascinated by the cats and wolves, and scared to death of the rhino. GFWTR and I got up Saturday and went and shot the sporting clays league we joined. We missed last week while we were in southern Ohio on our weekend get away. The league is normally 50 birds. We shot our make up round too, so we shot 100 birds. The wind was pretty bad and for the first fifty it was single, single, true pair at each station. ( Read more... )

The Western PA sectional match was this weekend over at Gem City Gun Club near Erie PA. I got work on the staff for the match, specifically I got to be quartermaster/mr.fix-it.

Overall the match both as a shooter and staff member was a lot of fun. That said the weather utterly sucked for most of it.

So I borrowed a friend's Open gun at this past weekend's USPSA match. It was a very nice SVI IMM Open gun (link to image on SVI website of gun very similar to the one I borrowed). I manage to take first in both Limited-10 (1 of 10) and Revolver (1 of 3) this weekend at our club match. I had one no-shoot hit, right between the eyes, but otherwise shot pretty clean. It was very warm and the humidity had to be nearly 100%. I drank over 100ozs of water during the match and while driving to a graduation party after the match.

So previously the only time I could think of to have too many magazines was if you had to swim with them, but I found another situation where they are bad. A really muddy USPSA match. Last weekends match was a mud-bowl and I had loaded up twelve magazine for both my XD-40 Tactical and XD-45 Tactical (having recently acquired 6 more XD-45 mags at ( Read more... )
