Spring arrived all of a sudden. The week before last, I was wearing my winter coat, there was still snow on the ground and ice on the lakes, and there were some very frosty cold days. Saturday Grab Bag
- I went to see Endhiran through the Milwaukee film festival last Sunday. It was a lot of fun, if surprisingly violent. Going to see a movie in a movie theater always feels like it takes so much time, so willingly spending a Sunday evening in a theater watching a 3 hour movie is unusual for me. Wildfires far, far away were making everything really hazy for the last few days. It was so thick yesterday afternoon I was actually coughing a bit when I left work. Goodness knows how bad people with asthma had it. It's been a lot better today. I suppose the little bit of rain we had last night helped.

I survived working in the field last week with record dew points and whatnot. I'm looking forward to this week being slightly less oppressive.
I haven't seen Harry Potter yet. There are still lines at theaters for some showings, so I think I need to let it all clear out a bit more. Everything else on my to-see list has been relegated to "When it ( Read more... ) -

I was in the field this week and things alternated between horribly hot and humid on the one hand and cold and rainy on the other. That's the way things go sometimes, but it reinforced the feeling that I had somehow missed spring. It's the first of May and where I am, it snowed last night and was icy and below freezing this morning.

MORE SNOW OMG
I was out in the thick of things yesterday. I had field work up north. It started out fine, by the end it was snowing heavily (with actual accumulation) and our gloves were soaked through. The wool I was wearing everywhere else did it's job keeping me warm and dry but I really wish I'd bought those ice fishing gloves when I had the chance last ( Read more... )
