it occurs to me that if you ask people for stuff, directly and repeatedly, th discomfort in it might decrease, and perhaps eventually th fundamental grossness of situations that involve a lot of asking people for stuff, such as electoral politics--perhaps th fundamental grossness goes away a little bit.
