I woke up hungry--unsurprising since I didn't eat anything for nearly 20 hours yesterday in order to get blood work done to tell if I have gestational diabetes--and decided it had been a while since I posted so what the heck, a snack and a post it is.

I spent a good part of the day sorting baby clothes. I've just been tossing the kids' things in tubs as they outgrow them which means we have a lot different clothes all jumbled together. The first time we took the babe on a trip, I was hanging out with her at the airport while maxemulien went looking for food. I exchanged comments with various passerby (passer-bies? passer-bys?) since having a baby seems to break many normal social barriers. Two of our local friends had a baby two weeks ago, so we stopped by to meet the tyke yesterday. He is so tiny and soft and fragile. I think of Raine as pretty small, because she is when compared to adults, but yesterday she looked huge. Raine was just chewing on my finger and I felt a tooth. They haven't really "come in" yet but it looks like both her front bottom teeth have broken the surface. No wonder she's been fussy this week.

Raine turned four months old on Sunday and had her four month well baby check-up yesterday. She now weighs 14lbs 6oz and is 26 inches long (give or take). She's in the 75% which is reassuring. She seems so little, mostly because she's on the skinny side for a baby (breastfeed babies tend to be leaner.)

I can hardly believe it is May already, though the coming spring is certainly welcome. Just about a year ago I got pregnant. It seems so much longer, so much has changed since then. Or really only one thing has changed, but it's such a doozy that our lives just feel different.
