Like - I imagine - most people who aren't called "Anne" or "John", I'm always a bit weirded out when others have my name. Moderately weirded out and a bit threatened when it's someone in my class or at work. Mildly weirded out and a bit flattered when it's a historical person like a saint or an empress.

Simply put, it's an exchange of fanfic, fanart or anything else we can create for donations. My cell phone stopped working today, after being used for only ten days. All it says now is "put in SIM". Grrrr. I knew there was a reason I didn't have one before.

OTOH, I can cheer myself up by reminding myself that fandom_charity now has 12 people watching it, ten of whom are members. None have posted challenges yet, but I have hope.

Encouraged by the comments from zortified and illmantrim I have now created a community to trade fannish (or non-fannish) creations for donations to international charity organisation such as Amnesty International, the Red Cross, etc. The community is called fandom_charity, and for more information, go over to have a look in the userinfo, or check my previous post today ( Read more... )

So, I've been thinking. fan_the_vote worked pretty well; it raised about $6,000 for Kerry, plus all the money for MoveOn. Not much compared with the entire campaign, sure, but still quite a bit of money. And over at som_pos we managed to raise enough money for the cartoonist to quit his job - I think it was $22,000 or thereabouts.
