Like - I imagine - most people who aren't called "Anne" or "John", I'm always a bit weirded out when others have my name. Moderately weirded out and a bit threatened when it's someone in my class or at work. Mildly weirded out and a bit flattered when it's a historical person like a saint or an empress.
Really, really weirded out and sort of fascinated in a horrified way when it's a terrible disaster that's killing people and destroying cities.
Which is a lead-in to the actual issue: For those of you who haven't noticed, people have started offering fic and other things at
fandom_charity in return for donations to the victims of Katrina. I haven't offered yet (I need to figure out if I can do it and write the Faith fic at the same time), but I have asked others for fics. Both sides of the coin are important, and whether you have the creativity or the money or both, I suggest you go there and make use of it. Remember, do not send any money directly to the ficcer/artist - send it straight to the charities.
