As a rule, we do not get hurricanes in the Volunteer State, esp. in the mountains, but I think we may have broken that rule.  The wind is literally shaking the house, and the rain is coming horizontally at the windows.  The rain may end tonight as snow, which is at least pretty.  I hate mud, and my front yard is now a vast wasteland of it ( Read more... )

I'm a big believer in not counting chickens before they hatch.  Too many variables.  And so, as Obama takes the reins, I watch.  What I AM sure of is that he is no Messiah, Saviour, or Prophet.  He's man with some ideas that may or may not work.   He will not save the entire country from poverty, but his time in office might see some economic ( Read more... )

Hey we are back in the Bluff after spending the night with Mom in Kingsport.   We had a nice time there, and Chelsea went with Mom to a local church to buy kettle-made apple butter.  Yum.  They had a great time.
