Last night I found out that a guy I grew up with committed suicide. I wish I could say that we were dear friends, but we were both shy, so we never talked that much. I wish we had. I never really knew my cousin Patsy well growing up. My Dad was the youngest of 7 boys, and I was his youngest of 6 kids, so there was a huge gap between me and my first cousins. Today I'm shedding tears and wishing that I could be home to be with my family. My Uncle Auvie died yesterday. He was my Dad's oldest brother. He was 81 years old. His obituary is beautiful. Although, when you live a life as full as he did, I suppose it can't help but be beautiful ( Read more... )

My mind has been on my home state all day. It feels different when a natural disaster comes and hits places you know and grew up with. I mean, hearing about the tragedies in Japan broke my heart, but hearing about places like Tuscaloosa, Birmingham, Cullman, Phil Campbell... all these places I lived in or near? It's kinda hard. Andrew's uncle passed away last night. From what I heard, he was playing basketball at church, had a heart attack, and shortly after that, he was gone. So sad. I didn't know him that well, but he was a very nice, fun-loving man. I really feel for his family. I've had to deal with death a lot in my life time.
