Overcast most of the day, but our high was 75F. Tomorrow, we have a massive coldfront coming through midday and the high will be twenty degress cooler. But it's going to warm back up again quickly.

A wintry day in Alabama. There is more than five inches of snow in some areas north of us. So far, nothing here, and we may be spared, but there's a good chance we'll get freezing rain after dark. When I got up this morning the temperature was 1˚F and the windchill at -15˚F. It has risen to 4˚F, with the windchill at -14˚F. The sun is bright, the sky is painfully blue. We are promised temperatures above freezing tomorrow, for the first time since Christmas Day ( Read more... )

I posted this to Facebook about two hours ago: In Providence, it's 13˚F, with the windchill at -4, and about a foot on snow on the ground. We've not been above freezing since before Christmas. To quote the Beach Boys, "I wanna go home." Since then, the temperature has skyrocketed to 14˚F, and the windchill has actually dropped one degree, to -5˚F. ( Read more... )
