This afternoon we moved Mom and Harry in with us until power is restored. I figure if I survive having my mom live here for as many as 4 or even more days, I deserve to be canonized ( Read more... )

While I still have only partial power and Mom's power is still out completely, I count my blessings and feel incredibly lucky that things weren't worse for us. Other than being stir crazy, we are safe, warm and dry. Thanks to how the house is wired I still have heat and my fridge has power. I'm posting from Howard's iPad because we've lost Internet. We have partial power here. Mercifully, the refrigerator is still running and I found an outlet to plug in Howard's Cpap so we could both sleep. He snores like a demon without it. Mom's power went out a few hours ago.

I still have power but 2/3 of my block is out.

We are all okay and safe.

The winds are kicking up in ernest now. It's almost 9 in the morning here but the sky is the color of pre-dawn. I've seen my neighbor walking his dog, albeit as quickly as he could. There have only been one or two people walking on my street this morning. Since public transit is completely shut down that probably means they must get to work via ( Read more... )

It's too hot and sticky to get much done today. It's only 86 degrees, which isn't horrid but couple that with 55% humidity and it feels pretty icky! Insomnia Girl didn't wake up until 1:00 PM so we don't have much of a day left.
