Last week, inkognitoh texted to say she'd be on the Trafalgar Square fourth plinth on thursday evening as part of Antony Gormley's One & Other art installation. Went to the International Students' Cultural Event after work yesterday. It was really nice - the overseas students had dressed up, provided food and drinks (especially the Caribbean Society with their rum punch), and put on a show. The staff members who were there were made to feel welcome, and lots of students insisted on posing for pictures ( Read more... )

It's another "hold until relieved" morning at work. Two people off sick, another on a course, so I'm the only one here to staff the library till one o'clock.
I have a disposable filter pot of coffee and some trail mix to keep me going, and I've set up the MG42 and Panzerfausts in the ruined church.

Interesting course today on project management. Which is relevant to me as I learned this month that we are to migrate all the data on our library system, with all records, policies and quirks, into the system used by the rest of the university. That has to happen at end of this academic year, and we should be running the new system for all ( Read more... )

Work Christmas party last night. Held, for credit crunchy reasons, in the student common room. A tasty Indian food buffet was delivered. The library staff won one of the "Awards for Excellence" for implementing Lawbore Pro.
