Went to a really cool gig on Monday. Along with inkognitoh, silverjet_allie, minx2012 and Pete. Sea songs and chanteys aplenty, me buckoes, gar! There were a few eccentric performances, but overall it was awesome. Eliza Carthy and her parents were really cool, representing the "proper folk" contingent. As was Julie Fowlis singing in Gaelic. Having a long weekend. Friday and Tuesday off work (with BH Monday).
Quiz on Thursday - we came second on a tie-break. Princess Anne kept us from victory.
Chilled out on Friday, did a bit of shopping and had a haircut.

Programme planners of TCM, I salute you for showing Captain Blood at seven o'clock this morning. I was on a ten o'clock start at work, so I had time to watch it all. It made a nice change from the breakfast news.
And in looking up the movie, I just found that a load of Rafael Sabatini's books are on Project Gutenberg, including a bunch I haven't

I had my birthday drinks yesterday (birthday's actually today).

Went to the baseball and softball Nationals yesterday, with Alex and Tigger. Enjoyed watching baseball, and it was a good chance to see how top teams play softball. Which is much as we do but dropping fewer catches ( Read more... )
