Here's hoping that all my Canadian friends had a good Canada Day. We spent the day busting our butts trying to catch up on some of the yard-work and gardening here on the farm. It was certainly a very busy long weekend up here: The back-pay from the gov't tax-refunds finally arrived, so that's letting us pay off some debts; I was insanely busy at the Iron Pony shop, and we spent the better part of Sunday and Monday getting the vegetable garden put in.      It just occurred to me that today (what's left of it) is the last day of Winter.  We had such a mild winter this year (especially compared to the last two years) that it was hard to notice the transition to Spring.  At least, it would have been had a violent blizzard not hit the area on the very last day of Winter!  Talk about going out ( Read more... )

     One of the things I've been wanting to build out on the farm is a green-house; The old pump-house on the farm is built in a "Half Gable" style, so I thought that the best idea would be to build the green-house as the "other half."  That would work aesthetically, and make construction easier since the largest wall would already be in place.  ( Read more... )

     Poor trixstir ; This baby is nearly a week overdue, and despite several false-alarms, there's still nothing really happening.  All we can really do is sit and wait, and hope that the kid finally decides to make an entry into the world.  Unless the baby arrives in the next 24 hours (or least starts to arrive) we have an appointment to see the doctor on ( Read more... )
