I picked up some things in the yard that might blow away or get destroyed before hurricane Idalia came through here. I took all my hanging orchids down (many were in bloom) and lined them up on a section of the south side fence. We got up this morning to 67 degrees! It was wonderful, invigorating and refreshing! We immediately opened up the doors/windows and the gentle breeze helped fill the house with fresh air! I love mornings like this . . . I relish in them. I made coffee, put our eye drops in, made a quick trip to the Gallery, then home for some outside time ( Read more... )

This is my only all yellow orchid. I was in the garden as the sun was clearing the trees at the back of the property this morning and got some nice "golden hour" light. I love the little yellow bird in the orchid spreading its wings.

Well, almost since right after my last post, my computer has been out of commission….again. I got it all taken care of and now I’m back in business. After two beautiful warm days, we are getting another cold snap. Temps have dropped 15 degrees so far since I got up this morning and not much sun today, but I’m not complaining. Someone asked me recently after seeing yet another of my park/pond pictures, if I lived at the park. I answered back very seriously, "Yes, I do. I have everything I need there." I decided to keep track and document my first orchid to open this winter. It is a bathroom orchid and I had no idea what it was going to look like. I love being surprised like this. Oh, I was so happy yesterday to see another of my "survivor orchids" opened. I knew I had one yellow orchid in the original group of 15, but I wasn't sure if it was one of the nine survivors. Yay!
