I was home ill as of Thursday afternoon. It didn't feel like flu, for which I am grateful, but I stayed home on Friday and telecommuted. Most of the time, I seem to gripe about various inconsistencies and processes that don't make a lot of sense to me. I did a bit more economic stimulus on my way home last night. Based on the new arrangement of the first floor, and agreement by ealdthryth, I have started acquiring more things to complete our home furnishings. The last set of curtains for the first floor have been purchased, and I dug out a decorative curtain rod from the hoard of stuff in the woodshop. ( Read more... )

Well, it turns out that 409 and Goo-Gone were not required last night. I was fully expecting my head to "go 'splody". I am still angry that it took mounting division to reveal what was necessary to determine that the situation was mostly bullfeathers. I tire of this.

We succumbed to the call of the pesticide. ealdthryth phoned the veterinarian and arranged for me to pick up some Advantage and a small syringe. Apparently my insect-destroying powers are quite variable. We are still contending with fleas. However, the Natures' Chemistry stuff has been applied to the couch and ealdthryth's closet (where Kiera most often hides). I've vaccumed nearly every day. OK, the living room has been Boraxed [yes, I just turned it into a verb]. I locked the kitties upstairs for a couple of hours (much to their consternation) to keep them away from the dust and from collecting it in their paws. The house is pretty much clean at this point. I spent the weekend in a cloud of cat fur, dander and Borax. Determined to get rid of the fleas, ealdthryth vowed that we would not be using any of the chemical stews and would be pursuing more natural methods. I nearly made myself late for work. Three out of four cats were lounging at our feet this morning. Josie was actually on my feet while Ignatius sacked out between ealdthryth and myself.
