The institute of Geology I work in moved to a new building about 5 years ago. And when such a new building is build apparently there is a certain budget for art and culture. Things like minerals in showcases, a rock/boulder garden in the back yard etc. They are not just pretty, but have a connection to the earth sciences ( Read more... )

I just came back from watching Star Wars, which I just loved btw. I went to see it with a few other people and one of them was a professed non trekkie.
