The Pop Culture Impaired
I just came back from watching Star Wars, which I just loved btw. I went to see it with a few other people and one of them was a professed non trekkie. But she went anyway, because we told her, that she didn't need to know much about the movies or series. And most people have seen at least a few episodes of TNG or so, right?
Ten minutes into the movie she leans over.
Dani: So, who is this Spock guy?
Me: ...
It appears there are people my age that really don't know who Spock is. Fascinating.
After the movie I can't resist mocking her for her pop culture illiteracy.
Me in a sarcastic tone (okay, that's redundant): So now you know who Spock is. Ever heard of Luke Skywalker?
Dani in all seriousness: Wait, that's the other one. Star...Wars? The guy in the black mask, right?
Me: ...............
Guess the joke was on me.
